Corporate Strategy at DTE Energy
Camilo Serna is Vice President of Corporate Strategy for DTE Energy, a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. In his role, Serna develops and implements key strategic initiatives including the execution of the annual strategic planning process. He also leads DTE’s cost and operational benchmarking programs and manages the development of long-term commodity market scenarios.
Prior to joining DTE, Serna was with Eversource Energy for eight years, most recently as the Vice President of Strategic Planning and Policy. In his role, he led efforts to understand market, technology, customer and policy trends to identify strategic opportunities. Once identified, he implemented several of these opportunities including a 10-year gas expansion plan, a 5-year Grid Modernization Plan and a utility-scale solar implementation program. Serna also managed the company’s strategic planning process and framed energy policy positions. Additionally, Serna served as President of Eversource’s unregulated operations, where he led several asset sale transactions.
Prior to joining Eversource in 2008, Serna was a leader in Oliver Wyman’s Energy & Utilities practice, helping utility and energy companies in Europe, Latin America and North America with a wide array of strategic and operational challenges.
Serna holds an industrial engineering degree from Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia) and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
